Author: Abel Fitness
Recipe type: Appetizers and Side Dishes
Serves: 10
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups of nuts of your choice (I prefer mixed nuts for variety)
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 ½ teaspoons of ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper (add more if you want more kick)
- 1 tablespoon of Truvia or Stevia powder (I’d suggest Truvia with this recipe)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- Place the nuts in a bowl.
- Pour the oil into a small, heavy saucepan and place over medium-low heat until warm.
- Add the cumin and cayenne and stir until the mixture is aromatic, about 15 seconds.
- Pour the flavored oil over the nuts.
- Add the Truvia or Stevia powder and stir to coat evenly.
- Transfer the coated nuts to a baking sheet so they’re in one layer.
- Bake, stirring or shaking the pan occasionally until the nuts are toasted, about 20 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks or freeze and reheat later.
- Note: The nuts are best served warm. To warm them place them on a baking sheet and reheat for about 5 minutes at 300 degrees.
